I help writers get unstuck by bridging the gap between theory and application.
Understanding how a story should work doesn’t mean you have the skills to actually do it. So together I’m going to help you learn the essential skills of storytelling.
For example...I’ve worked with a writer who’s been doing everything she’s supposed to do and wasn’t making any progress in her novel.
She’s part of two different critique groups, has gone to writing retreats and conferences, and still gets the feedback that her work, “needs more energy” in it. So what did she do?
She doubled down on learning. She read more books and attended more conferences. The mistake?
She doubled down on book learning rather than focusing on how to actually apply her knowledge. When we started working together, I showed her how to actually do the things she knew she could do. The result?
Her writing group loved her new work! She had people emailing her about how she’s doing things so differently and asking if they could get an early copy of her drafts to read over. That was all because she discovered how to put into practice what she already knew.
